Godsmack‘s 2003 observe “Serenity” was impressed by Rush drummer Neil Peart‘s 2002 e-book Ghost Rider: Travels On The Therapeutic Highway, although Peart wasn’t serious about being a visitor on the observe.
In an interview with Revolver concerning Godsmack‘s 2003 report Faceless, frontman Sully Erna tells the story of being tremendous impressed by Peart‘s phrases and eventually assembly the band earlier than a present in Miami. Erna stated the band was extraordinarily cool to him and Godsmack, and that he acquired the possibility to ask Peart to play drums on “Serenity” after displaying him the lyrics. Peart declined and, as each single story about The Professor goes, gave Erna some sound recommendation that also resonates with him in the present day.

“In order that they invited us, and it was so ironic as a result of I had simply been studying his e-book Ghost Rider, and I used to be so moved by the e-book that it impressed me to write down the track ‘Serenity.’ I had simply demoed the factor and handwritten all of the lyrics. And so we went to see them. After all, we had a good time. They put us on the stage throughout the drum solo and me and Shannon sat there with our Rush hats and shirts and tour books wanting like nerds.
“And I get to satisfy Neil. I gave him the lyrics to ‘Serenity’ and even requested if he’d be serious about enjoying the drum observe on that track, though he politely declined. He stated, ‘You may see in the future while you’re effectively into your 50s that while you’re on break, you are on break. And as soon as that is finished, I’ll be taking a while off.’ And now I get it as a result of I am in my 50s. However it nonetheless allowed me to determine a relationship with him, and through the years I acquired to know him very well and frolicked with him just a few instances.”
It is also value noting that Erna is a really strong drummer, and even coated Rush‘s “Spirit Of Radio” fairly rattling effectively!
