Palms, the band that includes ex-Isis drummer Aaron Harris, bassist Jeff Caxide, and guitarist Bryant Clifford Meyer, alongside Deftones vocalist Chino Moreno, is re-releasing their self-titled debut album on September 22. The reissue options the 2 B-sides “Opening Titles” and “Finish Credit” and is available for pre-order here.
So far as precise new Palms materials, Moreno revealed in a 2020 interview that it’s not out of the question. It is simply troublesome along with his schedule, seemingly moreso now that Crosses is lively once more.
“We did it with the intentions of it not being a band… It was simply enjoyable,” he stated. “I am hanging out with my good friend [Aaron Harris], we’re simply experimenting and making music. But it surely wasn’t like a band. It was a bunch of music that they’d already been jamming on and I simply sang over what that they had.
“I did not have any half within the creating of the songs themselves or no matter or enjoying guitar. Finally we performed stay and I performed guitar and I felt just like the stay model of that loads higher as a result of it was extra bombastic and dynamic I believe. However yeah, it was robust as a result of the expectations of what that would have been. I personally felt a bit of bit let down. So if I felt that method, then I do know that a whole lot of different folks should have felt that very same method too.
“However that being stated, I am glad I did it. It was tremendous enjoyable and we truly wrote just a few songs now—ones that we did collectively as a bunch—and we most likely acquired like 4 or 5 tunes of people who we began engaged on, that we have performed some recording on them truly; after which form of paused it out as a result of I needed to go in and do a Deftones file or no matter. We weren’t in a position to get round to it.
“We nonetheless could sooner or later, as a result of clearly the songs are there and it is form of as much as me to put in writing some extra vocals and stuff over it. However its truly much more a mixture of Isis and Deftones kind of factor, its much more guitar-driven I suppose you’d say—distorted guitar, dynamic.”
