Lawsuit Filed
UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP (UMG), SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT and different labels have filed go well with in opposition to the INTERNET ARCHIVE for copyright infringement. The nonprofit INTERNET ARCHIVE and its “GREAT 78 PROJECT” of digitized music from classic data is the goal of the go well with. The labels, together with CAPITOL, ARISTA, CONCORD, and CMGI say the INTERNET ARCHIVES’ “GREAT 78 PROJECT” is an “unlawful report retailer.”
A complete of two,749 recordings are cited, and damages may very well be as excessive as $412 million. The lawsuit says that the recordings can be found on licensed streaming companies and in no hazard of loss or destruction.
