The property of Joey Jordison has sued Slipknot, accusing them of profiting off his dying and by no means returning Jordison‘s gear.

The lawsuit was filed in June by Steamroller, LLC, the successor in curiosity of Jordison, and claims that Slipknot by no means gave again roughly 22 of his gadgets regardless of “promising to return all of Jordison‘s belongings.” The lawsuit names members Corey Taylor and Michael Shawn “Clown” Crahan.

Based on Blabbermouth, the lawsuit additional claims that Slipknot then used Jordison‘s gadgets “in a touring Slipknot museum known as Knotfest and line[d] their pockets with revenue off of Jordison‘s devoted fanbase.”

“After abruptly kicking Jordison out of Slipknot in 2013, Taylor and Crahan expressly promised in a written settlement to return all of Jordison‘s belongings in alternate for Jordison‘s promise to launch sure claims towards them,” reads a portion of the criticism.

“The settlement contained a non-exclusive listing of broad classes of things that [Taylor and Crahan] represented had been of their possession and that they’d return to Jordison. [Taylor and Crahan] presupposed to adjust to the settlement by returning sure gadgets to Jordison however, unbeknownst to Jordison, [they] had executed the settlement with no intention of performing their obligations thereunder, and knowingly hid from Jordison that they possessed quite a few different gadgets belonging to Jordison that they by no means returned to him.”

The lawsuit particulars Jordison‘s involvement in Slipknot, stating the band was based in 1995 by himself, Crahan, and the late bassist Paul Grey. Crahan, Grey, Taylor and Jordison then entered right into a partnership in 1999 and based Slipknot Partnership.

The lawsuit additional calls Slipknot‘s firing of Jordison in 2013 “callous” as a result of his ongoing points with acute transverse myelitis, noting that Crahan and Taylor handled Jordison with “disdain.”

“The callousness of Jordison‘s firing and different mistreatment by the hands of Crahan and Taylor have been broadly reported and criticized by followers of the band. For the reason that Nineties, Jordison had devoted his life to creating Slipknot a metallic sensation, from which Crahan and Taylor handsomely profited. It made no sense why Crahan and Taylor would deal with Jordison with such disdain, particularly in gentle of Jordison‘s declining well being.”

The lawsuit then blasts Taylor and Crahan, claiming that Slipknot used Jordison‘s identify and legacy to advertise their newest report The Finish, So Far.

“Whereas household, associates, and followers mourned the lack of the legendary drummer, neither bandmate expressed condolences to Jordison‘s household after his passing. As an alternative, Taylor and Crahan heartlessly sought to revenue off of Jordison‘s dying. Slipknot launched a brand new album in 2022 titled The Finish, So Far. Fan opinions of the album not often miss the chance to lament Jordison‘s absence.

“Taylor and Crahan callously used Jordison‘s dying as advertising and marketing for his or her new album. Taylor publicly devoted The Finish, So Far to Jordison, claiming that the belief of Jordison‘s passing ‘crept in’ whereas making the album. Taylor even acknowledged that he and Crahan had mistreated Jordison in an interview, telling followers that they ‘had been hoping to fix fences with him, and it is a type of issues that tells you: no matter you have to do, do it now, since you by no means know whenever you’re gonna lose any person.’

“Maybe worst of all, Crahan and Taylor publicly lied to followers that they’d contacted Jordison‘s household to test on them and specific their condolences and love for Jordison within the wake of his passing. This was totally false, and deeply upsetting for Jordison‘s household to learn such a blatant lie on the web. It’s clear that Taylor and Crahan didn’t truly care about Jordison or his household; they cared solely about drumming up publicity and gross sales of the brand new album.”

The criticism additional claims that Taylor and Crahan “have continued to revenue off Jordison‘s dying and his grieving fanbase to at the present time, by displaying Jordison‘s belongings at a touring Slipknot museum known as Knotfest. The museum has made quite a few tour stops over the course of a number of years and [Taylor and Crahan] have profited handsomely from Jordison‘s followers’ willingness to pay admission charges to view Jordison‘s iconic belongings in particular person.”

Slipknot has since responded and have requested the lawsuit to be dismissed.
