Founding Vio-Lence guitarist Phil Demmel is leaving the band after one ultimate present on February 11. In a video assertion printed by Demmel and transcribed by Steel Injection, he explains that this has nothing to do with joining Kerry King‘s new band and the whole lot to do with feeling just like the time was proper.
“I’m asserting that this Sunday shall be my final present with Vio-Lence,” stated Demmel. “The timing is bizarre, I do know with the [Kerry King announcement], and it would not actually coincide with the Kerry factor. It isn’t ‘oh that acquired introduced so I am quitting this, stopping this’ or no matter you wanna… ‘retiring from no matter.’ It has been I suppose within the works for a bit, I sort of did not know. My standing has been undefined for some time. I am sort of doing issues that I felt bizarre comfy or fell in to my schedule or no matter.
“However given the most recent state of the band and the place I really feel I belong with it, or really feel tied to it, I simply suppose my time is at an finish. It isn’t one thing that… I will all the time establish with the band. Me and Perry began this band in highschool and it is cool to be going locations we have not been. On this instace, I am feeling that Sean [and I] are on totally different pages. I suppose we have all the time been on totally different pages, however I do not really feel like I slot in with what the target of that is anymore.
“In gentle of some present occasions, I felt compelled to make the break and simply thought of perhaps doing a house present and saying goodbye – I do not really feel like I want that. I really feel like enjoying these Metro reveals with Perry and Dean and Ray, and having these two magical days and doing another stuff that we have finished, writing 5 songs, doing the EP – I really feel fulfilled. Something additional kinda feels compelled. Truthfully earlier than this tour, I did not wanna come. I am right here to commit. I am comitted to it, I wasn’t gonna again out. However I believe I am finished. I believe I’ve finished what I wished to do with this band.”
Demmel performed with each incarnation of Vio-Lence throughout their profession between 1985 and 2024.
