This is a brand new one – the New York Metropolis Division of Buildings shut down a Mindforce present at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn, NY on February 16. The shutdown occurred halfway via Balmora‘s set, which present promoter LIHCshows questioned.
“Yo! I did not wish to not say one thing in regards to the Mindforce gig so right here ya go,” wrote LIHCshows. “With out saying an excessive amount of, sure the present was shut down by DOB [Department of Buildings] – not a fireplace marshal and never NYPD. For those who work development you know the way depressing coping with DOB could be. Please don’t take any frustrations out on the venue.
“To me – it appeared like a private vendetta + assault on the venue. DOB simply does not present up at 8 pm on a Friday . We’re doubtlessly attempting to determine a make up date so give us till subsequent week to determine what is going on on as an alternative of DMing Me, Mindforce or the venue about refunds when the present was shut down not even a hour in the past
“I am sorry to Mindforce that they did not get to play . I am sorry to y’all who got here out tonight to see Mindforce . And eventually I am sorry to Saint Vitus that they should take care of this BS.”
So what the hell occurred? In keeping with a grievance filed on the NYC.gov (as obtained by Lambgoat), there have been just a few causes. Why this needed to be carried out halfway via a present and never in the course of the off hours of the venue is past me.
The grievance reads: “As of Friday, September 22, 2023 the next are details about 1120 Manhattan Avenue know to the general public as Saint Vitus Bar: 1) Saint Vitus Bar doesn’t have any most occupancy indicators posted wherever, and most of the time they host extra individuals than their allotted most capability. 2) Saint Vitus Bar’s most up-to-date Certificates of Occupancy on file with the Division of Buildings doesn’t permit it to function as an consuming/ingesting institution. There is no such thing as a different Certificates of Occupancy or Letter of No Objection that supersedes their Certificates of Occupancy dated November 12, 1953.
“3) Saint Vitus Bar is at the moment working with no Place of Meeting Certificates of Operation (PACO). 4) Saint Vitus Bar was issued summons (see ECB Violation # 39090715Z) for ALTERED/CHANGE BUILDING OCCUPIED WITHOUT A VALID C OF O AS PER 28-118.3.1- 28-118.1-2. They’ve paid the penalty however haven’t corrected the scenario. I’ll proceed to make this grievance every day till both the Division of Buildings performs an inspection or till Saint Vitus Bar can treatment their scenario.”
Saint Vitus has not but commented on the scenario.
