High On Fire will launch their new album Cometh The Storm on April 19, and is now streaming the large new single “Cometh The Storm” alongside a music video by Phil Mucci for Diabolik Movies.
Cometh The Storm was recorded at GodCity Studio in Salem, MA with producer Kurt Ballou, whereas the one itself options visuals from Lars Kristoffer Hormander. Pre-orders can be found here.
“‘Cometh the Storm’ was constructed from a riff I began enjoying on bass at apply,” stated High On Fire bassist and guitarist Jeff Matz. “I used to be noodling round with this melancholic harmonic minor line, simply hammering the notes with my left hand, when Matt yelled out ‘Are we recording this!?’
“The refrain riff was one thing Coady and I got here up with once we had been jamming in LA. Matt then got here in and labored up some tough lyrics and got here up with the vocal line. For the refrain, I used this fretless bass I would acquired. The burden of the low frequencies this factor produced was insane – the way it blended with the guitars and drums, it was like being hit with a sledgehammer. We knew instantly that this was going to be an epically heavy monitor.”
Added Mucci: “This was the primary time I started working with the blokes on set and we had a blast. High On Fire lyrics can all the time be interpreted in numerous methods, so I began by attempting to outline ‘The Storm’. An enormous record of visible concepts obtained whittled all the way down to the 2 important characters at work, The Man and Gaia, representing duel ends of the spectrum — with a really damaging crossover.
“I all the time attempt to maintain issues gentle and encourage everybody to return with concepts — like Coady‘s burning cymbal thought! No higher approach to finish your High On Fire shoot than with exploding cymbals!”
