In a latest interview with Graham Finney of V13, Thomas make clear the stark distinction between the inventive environments of the 2 bands.
“It is simply enjoyable. There isn’t any, ‘You’ll be able to’t do that. You’ll be able to’t try this.’ You are anticipated to behave this fashion. I do not know. It acquired a bit… I do not wanna badmouth them in any respect. That was a giant a part of my life. I would not be right here now if it wasn’t for my time in Bullet.”
Whereas tight-lipped about any private animosity, Thomas described Bullet For My Valentine in its later levels as a stifling expertise: “However I do not know, man. It simply ran its course, I feel, and it was time to go — I feel on either side of the fence. I positively know I would not be having fun with taking part in the music they’re writing now and I might have been vocal about that. I might have been, like, ‘I am not taking part in that music.’ I simply thought they had been simply following a development which is well-liked now. And, to me, I feel they’ve type of misplaced their manner a bit.”
This lack of inventive freedom appears to be a recurring theme for Thomas, who additionally appears to really feel a unique inventive freedom with Kill The Lights: “It is type of prefer it was within the early days of Bullet. It is simply, like, there is not any stress, there’s nothing to show. It is all about having enjoyable, and that comes by way of within the music. Bullet acquired so large at one level, it was identical to a machine… I do not know, man. It was enjoyable, however wanting again on it now, I could not return there now. It might simply be too… nah.”
Thomas drummed for Bullet For My Valentine between 1998 and 2016. Thomas was changed by Jason Bowld in 2017.
