The at all times voluble COURTNEY LOVE has simply written an op-ed in THE GUARDIAN, on the “sexism and gatekeeping throughout the music business, as mirrored within the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME and its nominating committee, with simply 9 girls among the many 31 on the nominating committee.
Amongst her observations: “In that case few girls are being inducted into the ROCK HALL, then the nominating committee is damaged. In that case few Black artists, so few girls of coloration, are being inducted, then the voting course of must be overhauled. Music is a lifeforce that’s always evolving – and so they can’t sustain. Disgrace on HBO for propping up this farce.
“If the ROCK HALL isn’t keen to have a look at the methods it’s replicating the violence of structural racism and sexism that artists face within the music business, if it can not correctly honor what visionary girls artists have created, innovated, revolutionized and contributed to standard music – nicely, then let it go to hell in a purse.”
The ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME is now being guided by veteran music execs JOHN SYKES and RICK KRIM after JANN WENNER stepped down.
